As bloggers, we tend to always put our best foot forward. If we post a picture of our house, we want it to look clean and spotless. But today I am going to be 100% honest with you and say that on any given day, a walk into my home would reveal anything but that picture perfect image we try to portray. The reality is you will instead see a frazzled mom trying to balance time with my kids, blogging and housework. You will see me vacuuming daily trying to keep up with my little mess maker I call my son. If there is one thing that moms know, it's that children know how to make a MESS! In fact, I'm pretty sure that my son has an (invisible to me) neon sign above his head flashing 'Dirt, Follow Me!'. That is the only reasonable explanation! I will have the house clean one minute, and the next a new mysterious mess has appeared...whether it's eating, bringing in dirt from outside or crafting...if there is any possible way to make a mess of any kind, he WILL make it, without fail. Aside from my six year old mess maker, I also have a six month old who doesn't make messes just yet, but sure knows how to get into them when they are there. She's in that stage of not-quite-crawling but still able to get around as she pleases and the stage where anything and everything she can get her hands on will go straight into her mouth...and of course, she goes straight for the messes big brother left behind! Try as I did, my old vacuuming routine just wasn't cutting it. I had one old vacuum that worked well on the rug in our living room and carpets upstairs but didn't do much for the hard floors, another small hard surface vacuum that worked well on those but was only so-so on carpets, and for the stairs...well, let's just be honest they haven't been touched in awhile. To get the best clean, I had to switch out vacuums for each surface to get the job done right. Seriously, who has the time for that!?
