As mothers, there is nothing more important to us than our children's education, right? We send them to school in hopes that they are getting the best education possible. For a mother of a special needs child, education is even more important. We worry not only about the general education as all parents do, but also have to worry about whether or not the school has the resources to bring out the absolute best in our special children. Unfortunately, all too often schools simply do NOT have all the funding they need. Be it arts, athletics or academics, they have to sacrifice some of those needs and wants because there just isn't enough money to go around. Of course, we would love to do something as parents, but the reality is most of us don't have that kind of money laying around either. What are we supposed to do? With the Labels for Education program, we CAN help! By simply purchasing items like cereal, soup, snacks, beverages...even school supplies- items many of us are already purchasing anyway, we can make a difference in our child's school and education!
So, what is the Labels for Education Program and how does it work?
Labels for Education is a super easy program that allows parents and community members to earn free stuff for their school. It's as simple as collecting and clipping UPSs and beverage/sauce caps and sending them to school with your child. There are over 2500 participating products ranging from food products like Campbell's soups and Post Cereals to school supplies from Bic, so there are bound to be products on all of our lists!! By sending these UPCs with your child, their school earns points which can be redeemed for arts, athletic and academic merchandise. In the 40 year history of the program, schools have earned over $114 million in merchandise! How great is that?
To show you just how easy it is to earn points, I made a little trip to my local Walgreens to find some participating products.
Again, with so many options to choose from, it wasn't hard to find! On this trip I picked up a few essentials for our household. First up, some Bic products! I am ALWAYS in need of pencils and highlighters to keep my calender organized (and pencils ALWAYS seem to disappear!). We also tend to keep a can or two of chicken soup on hand for those days when my little guy just isn't feeling well and he wants nothing more than to snuggle...they are the perfect quick meal on lazy days...he particularly likes the fun shapes!!
Just by buying these products we'd be buying anyway, my son's school can earn points to buy items they need to provide the best education possible to their students! How great is that? We don't need to be rich to show our support...we just have to shop! You can even find printable coupons on the Labels for Education website, so you can support your school for LESS!
Want to help your school even more? You don't want to miss the Labels for Education $1 Million Sweepstakes. 1000 schools will each win $1000! That's a lot of much needed equipment! I know that many of you LOVE your sweepstakes, and while you may not win for yourself, how wonderful would it be to provide your child's school with such an amazing gift? Go ahead, enter now!
