If I had my way, come Christmastime my house would be decorated from floor to ceiling! I just ADORE holiday decorating. Unfortunately this is another one of those areas that can put a strain on our budget! Holiday decor is NOT cheap! But that doesn't mean us frugal shoppers have to give up our dreams of decking the halls. Here are a few quick tips for holiday decorating on a budget:
Shop Post Holiday Sales. Perhaps the best way to get great deals on holiday decor is to shop after for the next year! You can get great decor for 50-75% off...or more!! (This is also a great time to stock up on wrapping paper and cards!)
Buy Used. Yard sales and thrift stores are great places to find super cheap holiday decor! Stockings, ornaments, even Christmas trees. And because yard sales are typically in the summer this also helps spread out your holiday budget throughout the year making it less of a hit at once!
Borrow From a Friend. Tired of the same old ornaments you use year after year after year? Consider swapping with a friend for the year (or find a Christmas obsessed friend who has more than they need). You both get fresh new looks without having to invest in all new decor! Win/win.
Shop Dollar Stores. Stores like the Dollar Tree actually have some really cute decorations for a fraction of the cost! Even Target's dollar spot has some really cute options. It doesn't have to be expensive to look festive.
Do It Yourself. If you're super crafty you can go all out of course. But for those novices like myself there are plenty of super simple holiday decor ideas. Bring in the kids to make red and green construction paper chains. Make snowflakes from paper to hang from the ceilings! The possibilities are endless.
