These days it seems we are always doing something in our phones. No longer is it just used to chat with friends but we are texting, surfing the Internet, paying bills, getting directions... Truly, you can do just about everything on your phone, can't you? Still, as great as all these apps can be they can also be big distractions and pull our time away from other things we could and should be doing. Like making time for God. What if there was an app for that?
Actually there IS!
By now most of you have probably already figured out my love of Family Christian stores for their great inspirational products. But did you know they had an app too? They do! It's called iDisciple:
I was given the chance to try out iDisciple for myself recently and have to say I'm really loving it. There is so much content to choose from. You can listen to fantastic sermons anytime! You can find daily devotionals and articles that are relevant to your life. You can subscribe to great channels about everything from marriage and family to channels for kids! For a little extra you can even subscribe to premium channels...like Veggie Tales!! Find something you love and want to find later on? Simply add it to your favorites or your library...or even share via message! It's super easy! There is even a giving account that allows you to donate to your favorite charities just by referring your friends to iDisciple. When they sign up you receive 20% of their net subscription fees monthly to your giving account. It's an app that gives back. As if all that wasn't enough to make a wonderful app- there is even a Bible...available in 4 translations!!
I'll be honest though as great as all these are my favorite feature by far is the music! You can stream music straight from your phone from all styles of Christian music. Pop, rock, classic gospel-it's all there and the selections are perfect. There's even a Christmas station that has been getting a ton of play in my home! I love how this gives me a great variety of music wherever I am. In my experience Christian radio stations don't get the best reception in many areas- if they even exist so this offers a great alternative.

There really is a lot to see with this app and has truly become one of my personal favorites. At just $4.99 a month, it's truly a great subscription service to consider both for yourself or as a gift! Rather than taking our attention/time away from the Word, this app allows our phones to bring us deeper into it. I LOVE that!
But it gets better!
Now when you purchase the app, you can help support our troops as well! Every purchase of an iDisciple membership from a Family Christian store will gift military service members with a subscription to iDisciple and a Military BibleStick from Faith Comes by Hearing. This is a 'digital audio player specifically designed for our military service members. It's about the size of a pack of gum, and comes pre-loaded with a dramatized recording of the entire New Testament and specially selected Psalms. It's rugged enough to withstand tough weather conditions, can be used in low-light situations, and easily fits into uniform pockets.' It is discreet and military approved, which means service members can wear while in uniform.
Having been through deployments on the other side of things as a military spouse, I know they can be rough on everyone. From this side, I know I turned to God often during my husband's deployment. It was only through His strength that I made it through some days...and I, in many ways, had the easy part. I still had my kiddo to snuggle, friends to spend time with, a warm bed to go home to. I got to spend the holidays with family...my husband did not. So I love that this outreach is allowing servicemembers to spend the time with God during this rough time. It is much needed. In fact, THOUSANDS have requested the BibleStick and are currently on a waiting list!!
So, this holiday season, as you are thinking about gifts to give and ways to give back, consider purchasing iDisciple. You'll love digging deeper in the Word right from your mobile device, AND will provide the app and BibleStick to a military member. How great is that?
