Recently, I asked my 4 year old daughter what the Bible was about. Her simple response? Jesus.
She was right of course, we all know that everything from the Bible, starting right at Genesis 1:1 is leading up to the story of Christ. As Christians, this is the foundation of our faith, and we understand that it's all connected somehow or another.
But how exactly?
We might know some of the references from the Old Testament to Jesus... but where is Jesus in Genesis? How does it ALL lead up to Christ's death and resurrection. Wouldn't it be great if there was a better way to truly understand exactly how Jesus fits into it ALL?

I must admit, when I first heard the name of this Bible I found myself thinking, 'Jesus Bible? Aren't they ALL Jesus Bibles?' Technically yes, but again, we don't always realize that as we are reading those old testament books. In the Jesus Bible, each book begins with a fairly in depth look at the book we are about to read--- the who, the what, the why... everything we need to gain a better understanding of the book at hand. Throughout, we find MANY side notes that give us an even deeper look, and help us to fully understand how it all goes together. We'll also find essays that give us a better perspective too. I love that even as I'm reading the Old Testament, I can feel as though I am truly learning more about Jesus through it all.
Another thing that I really loved about this particular Bible is that it has plenty of room in the margins to take notes. Technically this is not considered to be a journaling Bible... there are no lined sections and many pages DO have those side notes, but we do have wide margins on those other pages so you can record your own notes, reflections, etc as you read. For me, I know this can be extremely beneficial in helping me to better remember what I've read.
While I enjoyed this Bible as a more mature Christian, I cannot help but think this would be even greater to gift to someone who is new in their faith. But even still, it's certainly one that EVERY Christian can benefit from having in their collection.
