I'll be honest, I have a little bit of a love/hate relationship with my hair.
When it's being cooperative and looking how I want it to look, I would say it's one of my better physical features... but the keywords there are WHEN it's being cooperative. Let's be honest--- my hair can be a little bit stubborn.
Some days it seems to have a life all on its own. I want it to go one way, it wants to go the other. And having long... let's not even go into the breakage issue. I fought with my hair for a long time before I realized that it all comes down to the base--- the products we use can make a huge difference in the way our hair looks, feels and cooperates. These days I'm always on the search for great products that keep my hair looking and feeling its best. And if that product can be more natural? I'll take it!
Recently, I was given the chance to try out Desert Essence Anti-Breakage Shampoo and Conditioner.

But the real question is: how well does it really work? I was excited to put it with my stubborn hair to the test.
Now, if you have long hair like myself, you know what an issue breakage can be! Needless to say, the idea of an anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner was very appealing to me. The Anti-Breakage Shampoo is infused with an exclusive blend of Country Life Mazi-Hair plus Bition, with Keratin and Pro-Vitamin B. The formula is designed to help reduce the breakage by 61%. Sounds good to me! It also features Jojoba oil, coconut oil, aloe and saw palmetto that smooth and fortify hair cuticles and revitalize hair strands to minimize breakage. And let's not forget shine! It utilizes oils and radish seed extracts to maximize shine. Likewise, the conditioner features alow and moisturizing shea butter to help detangle and condition hair.
Now, aside from breakage one of my other big hair issues is dryness--- which of course aids in that breakage, of course! I loved that this shampoo was very moisturizing as well so I was excited to give it ago. My first impression was that I enjoyed the scent. It wasn't overwhelming, but a great fresh scent... I can be a little bit picky about scents so this is definitely important for me.
After using, I loved the way my hair felt--- very soft and manageable. Now, I've only been using for a couple of weeks so I can't really say 100% for sure how it's going to help with breakage long term, but I am loving the results so far. My hair looks and feels fantastic. Now, I DO have color treated hair and found that if I used ONLY this my hair did end up looking a little brassy... but that's an issue I have with ANY shampoo! So, I used this regularly, but switched the shampoo once a week with my purple shampoo for color maintenance. I still used the conditioner every time which really helped with the dryness that purple shampoo can bring!
I was also sent Desert Essence Anti-Breakage Hair Mask to try out, which I used once a week for even deeper conditioning. Like I said, my other shampoo is more drying, so I found this ideal to use on that one wash a week. I have used other hair masks but this has definitely become a favorite! It does require 20-30 minutes on--- which is a little bit longer than other masks I've used in the past, but well worth the smooth, soft hair it leaves behind.
