Gut Health.
We hear this term a LOT lately, don't we?
Over the last month, I was given the chance to try out Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics® Original Formula- a unique who food probiotic supplent that is the ONLY to offer a blend of prebiotics vulture medium (fermented vegetables and mushrooms that nourish the probiotics and aiding their effectiveness), probiotics (those GOOD bacteria that help our bodies to better digest foods and support our immune response) and postbiotics (pH balancing organic acids along with naturally occuring vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids to support digestive health and improve overall whole body health). This all-natural supplement was developed to support digestive comfort, nutrient absorbtion and a healthy immune system.
Unlike other probiotic options on the market, Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics are not created in labs. Instead, natural crops and spring water are fermented for three years with 12 distinctive probiotic strains that are meant to encourage your body's ability to grow it's own good bacteria.
Okay, sure! That all sounds great, but let's be honest... most of us probably don't understand a whole lot of that, am I right? All the scientific hows and whys may be great for those that understand what it all means, but the real question is: does it work?
I put them to the test to find out. First and foremost, I have to say I was impressed by the size. I have looked into other probiotics, and found that more often than not, the pills were quite large. I have difficulty with swallowing pills, so that was a hindrance for me. These were a great easy to swallow size (which means, if you have a child who can swallow pills, these could work for them as well).
We all know that this is the back to school season, and in my house that means that my on goes to school, brings home the germs and *I* get sick. Without fail. It seems as though any time he is in school, I'm constantly battle viruses myself thanks to my awful immune system.
Did you know that our immune response starts in the digestive tract where over 70 percent of immune system cells reside? A study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics showed that kids who were supplemented with probiotics were three times less likely to experience fever, coughs, and runny noses than their classmates who did not receive the probiotics. While that study may have focused on children, it's clear that a probiotic can impact the immune response regardless of age.
I started the Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics shortly after my son started school. He has been for about 6 weeks now, and normally by this time I would have come down with something at least 2-3 times. This year? Nothing! The only thing changed was my probiotic routine, so I do believe it has played some part in that. Beyond that, I have found that I feel overall better. Don't get me wrong it's not a cure all for all ailments and it's not going to make you feel 100% if there are underlying medical issues that need to be addressed as I experience myself... but I most certainly feel improvement compared to not taking it. Less bloating and upset stomach after eating... and in general just less blah! I feel hopeful that with continued use I will see even more improvement.

Do you use probiotics? How could Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics improve your health?
I don't currently use probiotics since my gut seems just fine, thanks. I like that this one is made from real food.
ReplyDeleteThere are a few side effects associated with probiotics. The side effects have not really been scientifically studied so it is hard to say if some side effects are more common than other side effects while using probiotics. It is reported that side effects are a rare occurrence when taking probiotics.Probiotics
