100 Days of Grace & Gratitude: Days 15-21

Week three of 100 Days of Grace and Gratitude has come to an end. This week I have both kids home on Spring Break so time is much more limited--- which means I've stuck with simple pages for the most part. Take a look at this week's journaling.

Day 15: Trust Is Key

Trust is key. That's the truth for any relationship, isn't it? Whether it's a friendship, a marriage or the relationship you have with your child... what is it without trust? And why should our relationship with Christ be any different? For this page, I was really a little stuck on inspiration. So, I decided to just keep it simple--- no theme, just a simple design and message. This allowed me to have plenty of room on the rest of the page to go back and reflect on this very important topic of trust. Because I'll be honest, it's one I struggle with myself. I know the importance of trust, but it's a tough one to really hand over!

Day 16: What Do You See?

If ever you have a doubt that God loves us... just take a look around. Evidence of God's love is absolutely everywhere. In the roof over our head, in the beauty of His creation, in the rise and fall as we take each breath. God is good. Look around. On this page, I really wanted to play on that idea of vision.. I love glasses after all! Initially I'd planned to go with more nerdy glasses, but then I remembered these cute little sunglasses from the Jen Hadfield Chasing Adventures Collection. Again, I kept the journaling small so I could go back and take a moment to write down all of those things that I saw around me, reminding me of God's love.

Day 17: Rejoice in the Lord

When I think rejoice I think singing. I think joy. And when I think joy, I think color! So I really wanted to reflect some color into this page. Yellow and pink, two favorites of mine- bright and fun... perfect for expressing that joy and praise. A simple ink/stencil background and some die cuts brought in the color. I practiced some hand lettering here with a simple phrase!

Day 18: He Knows, and He Cares

Do you ever feel like no one really cares? I think as moms especially we do so much for everyone else and don't seem to get much thanks or consideration onto how we are doing sometimes. It can feel lonely, isolating. I don't know about you, but I need this reminder that no matter what I am going through, God knows every detail already and He cares for me. For this page, I wanted to keep it very peaceful--- lighter colors and a sweet die cut. In the girl I saw her caring for the butterfly with gentle hands, much as I feel God does for us. I must admit though, this is a page that proves that not every page works out as we hope. You see, initially this was another attempt at hand lettering...and let's just say, it didn't work out. Still, I improvised and covered that failed attempt with a die cut and used some stickers for my lettering instead!

Day 19: In The Raw

I'll admit--- I LOVE me some Instagram filters. The lighting in my house is absolutely terrible casting a yellow glow on everything (with little natural light coming in) and well, those filters help correct those colors. And it's not just the colors, but all the imperfections that we don't quite want everyone to see. They can give us a little bit of confidence... much like putting on a dress that flatters our body does. But God doesn't care about any of that. He sees us. Just as we are. No filters, no makeup, no shapewear, no fancy clothes... broken, imperfect, us. He sees our hearts in a way that no one else can. This simple page reflected that message beautifully.

Day 20: Praise for Senses

When was the last time we stopped to think God for our senses? I must admit, it's not something that I often think about. It's something that many of us take for granted because we have it. We don't know any difference. But if you really think about it, it is those senses- each and every one- that allows us to take in all the good that God has created. For this page, I focused of course on just one sense--- taste. I knew upon reading this verse that I had to have some fun with food and these die cuts from Jen Hadfield's Patio Party were a great way to do so.

Day 21: He Is Water of Life

There are so many verses in the Bible talking about water in one way or another. God is the Water of Life. Throughout the last few years, I've done several water themed pages--- waves, beaches, boats... I wanted something a little different. So I decided to create what I hoped would be a water background using two different shades of blue gelatos and an acrylic block. I then used stencils and another shade of blue for some simple words. In the end, this turned out to be my favorite page for the week.
