Moms, Get Long Lasting Nail Color at Home with MODELONES

Moms, take a look at your fingernails right now. What do they look like? If you're anything like my usual self, chances are your answer is one of two options:

• They're chipped thanks to dishes and playing with the kid, in desperate need of a fresh coat of polish.
• They're completely bare, it's just too much work to keep up with them. 

Who else can relate? As moms, we so often put every one else's needs before our own and things like freshly done nails? Well, that is a luxury we just don't often have the time for. After all, it can be a lot of work to maintain. When I was younger, pre-kids I always made that time. I loved doing my nails in different colors and designs, and would be sure to change the look at the first sign of a chip. I had time for it then, after all. As a mom, not only did life become much busier, I found that I was much rougher on my hands--- bathing kids, cleaning house, playing outside with the littles--- these all took quite the toll on my nails. Not only did I have less time to devote to keeping them looking great, they needed maintenance more often. 

Here's the thing though, I still loving having cute nails. To me, it just makes me feel more put together and confident! Wouldn't it be great if there was a way that we could have great looking nail color that lasted--- and that we could do right at home at our own convenience?

I had heard of gel nail polishes but this was my first experience using them, and to be honest, I was a little apprehensive. Would it take forever? Would it be difficult? Would it truly last? I recently had the chance to put MODELONES to the test and share my experience with all of you!

First up, here's the basic how to to get started:

1. Prep your nails. Clean your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Trim and file your nails, push back and trim cuticles, etc. Properly preparing your nails creates an ideal surface to apply the color. MODELONES carries all of the nail art tools needed to do so, if needed. 
2. Apply base coat. Once your nails are prepped, add a thin layer of base coat. Now place your hands under UV lamp for 1 minute or LED light for 30 seconds. Gel polishes MUST be cured, so using a nail lamp is essential. Without doing so, the polishes will not dry on their own. I used the MODELONES NANO X Wireless UV/LED Lamp. It is very compact and great for travel and can either be used with a USB cord (included) or with batteries. I certainly recommend it. If you've already used gel polishes in the past, you can use whatever nail lamp you already use.
   
   
3. Apply layer of color. Apply a thin layer of your desired color. Cure under a UV lamp for 2 minutes or an LED light for 30-60 seconds. Repeat until you get your desired color.
   
   
4. Apply top coat. After you've accomplished your desired color, add a thin layer of top coat and cure for 1 minute under a UV lamp or 30 seconds under an LED light.
   
   
5. Remove any gel reside left behind. 

That's it! Sounds easy enough, right? I was pleasantly surprised to see just how easy it truly was. I am far from a professional. To be honest, right now due to injury my hands are less than steady so that can be quite the challenge when painting my nails, but I had no problems at all. I did have to redo one nail because I'd gotten a little gel on my finger (which will then allow the whole thing to peel off, so you do have to be mindful to keep it on your nails), but the process was still quite simple overall. It did take a little more time than what a typical nail polish might, but not much at all. Actually, one of the things I loved was that I could immediately start using my hands after that final cure. With regular polishes it seemed as though it would take forever to be dried to the point that I could use my hands without messing up my nails. With that in mind, though the polishing process itself took a slight bit longer, I felt like it all evened out in the end.

And it lasts longer meaning we can spend less time repeating the process over again! At the time of this posting, I have had the same gel color on for just about a week. With a typical polish by now my nails would be looking absolutely awful. Chips and chunks of polish missing, if not already gone completely. In this week, I have used some pretty heavy duty cleaners, showered, washed dishes, painted, cooked and more...and they still look just as great now as they did immediately after painting. I truly put it to the test, and it passed with flying colors. When applied correctly, it can last up to 21 days! But if you want to change color before then, you can use a gel polish remover to do so too. 

From the moment I opened my package, I was impressed. The beautiful design of the bottles are just begging to be put on display! While the bottles themselves might have impressed at first look, it was what was inside the bottles that truly got me hooked. I received the Morandi's Life collection which featured beautiful neutrals perfect for spring, but I certainly look forward to adding more to my collection. Yes, the cost is a bit more than what you might typically spend, but the quality and long lasting color pay for itself in the end. If you're already getting your nails done in the salon, this is going to give you that same look for much less at home, where you can fit it into your already busy schedule much easier!
