A gift of warmth to heal two hearts…
Sarah Smith in Pine Hill, Kentucky has had her heart broken in the past. She pours herself into her work at church and into special projects―like making a quilt for a wounded warrior.
Bodie Lewis is lost. All he’s ever wanted was his career as an Army Ranger, but he was injured in an explosion that killed his brothers in arms. In the hospital, he receives a handmade quilt. Later, he sets out on his final mission: to find and thank its maker.
Bodie expected Sarah to be an elderly lady, not a lovely young woman. When she mistakes him for a handyman, he doesn’t immediately set her straight. Instead, he sets about repairing the home she’s turning into a bed and breakfast. Sarah’s presence and the spirit of the small town bring Bodie something he thought he’d left far behind on the battlefield: hope.
This heartwarming sweet romance includes a free quilt pattern from the Quilts of Valor Foundation and a new original Hallmark recipe for Cinnamon Swirl Bread.
Janice Lynn has a master's in nursing from Vanderbilt University and works as a nurse practitioner in a family practice. She lives in the southern United States with her Prince Charming, their children, their Maltese named Moxie; and a lot of unnamed dust bunnies that have moved in since she started her writing career. Anyone who knows me could tell you there are two things I absolutely, positively cannot get enough of: good books and Hallmark movies. If it's a Christmas movie, even better! So a Christmas romance from Hallmark Publishing? Needless to say I couldn't wait to jump in.
Wrapped Up in Christmas tells the story of a wounded soldier-Bodie- who receives a quilt that brought him healing. He sets out to a small Christmas loving town in Kentucky to find and thank the quilter, surprised to find a beautiful young woman for whom he starts to fall. I know, I know... sounds just like a Hallmark Christmas movie plot, right? Needless to say, if you enjoy those movies, the book is just as good if not even better! But let's be honest, this type of sweet romance read is not everyone's cup of tea. It's sweet, it can be a little predictable at times and some might even say a little cheesy... but I absolutely love that. Not every read has to be an intense or groundbreaking story. Books like this are just like a warm cup of cocoa... comforting and sweet! As a military wife, I also appreciate the military aspect of the story...and that it drew attention to this real life program- Quilts of Valor- that I was previously unaware of.
Another thing that I really like about Hallmark books is that they include recipes at the end. This particular book features a recipe for Cinnamon Swirl Bread that I cannot wait to try this fall. It also features a quilt pattern for the Quilts of Valor quilt talked about in this story. While I am not a quilter myself, I feel like those quilters who read this story are going to love learning more about how they can show their support in this unique way!
Overall, this was a sweet read and one that I really enjoyed. It's the perfect sweet Christmas romance to warm your heart!
Wrapped Up in Christmas will be available on October 1. You can preorder your copy today!
