NHL Hockey Goalie Wyatt Marshall has everything--fame, money and a thriving career. But he’s hiding the two things that matter most...a career-ending injury, and his broken heart. He’s been in love with Coco Stanley since she walked into his life at age fourteen, a foster child for the Marshall family. She stole his heart years later, when, after a secret tryst, she returned to her home country of Russia. But she won’t let him back into her life—and he can’t figure out why.
She’s harboring a secret that could cost lives...
Coco Stanley is tired of living her life undercover. Or at least, with an assumed name, always pretending to be someone she’s not. And that’s not the only secret she’s harboring. If Wyatt discovers the real reason she left him, it might just destroy him. She’s resigned herself to loving him from afar...
But when he discovers she’s in danger...
Wyatt is horrified when he learns Coco has been shot and left in Russia, her fate unknown. There is nothing—nothing—that will stop him from finding her. So what if he’s not one of his super-heroic brothers, not a Ranger, not a SEAL...Wyatt is a hockey goalie, a special kind of crazy brave. Except, is he brave enough to face the secret Coco is keeping, or will it destroy everything he’s hoped for?
What will it cost them to save her?
What Wyatt and Coco don’t know is that revenge is stalking her and bringing her home just might cost them their long-awaited happy ending.
Continue the breath-taking Montana Marshall series!

Hi Susan! First of all, I want to thank you for
taking the time to answer these questions and allowing my readers the chance to
get to know you and your latest book-Wyatt- a little bit better. I
always like to start these interviews with something fun… tell us 5 random
facts about yourself that we WON’T find in your bio!
Oh – well, I love to Scuba dive, I lettered in
football, my favorite television show is Quantum Leap, I’ve been married for 30
years and…my favorite food is popcorn.
Let’s talk writing! You published your first full length book in 2004 and have published MANY more since then. Did you always know that you were meant to be a writer?
I always loved to write, but I didn’t think
about being a full time novelist—that just didn’t happen to the average person.
I did write my first book at the age of fourteen, but after that, I put it
aside, except for a creative writing class in college. It wasn’t until I got to
Russia and had long, cold nights with nothing to do that I started to write novels.
But even then, I didn’t think I’d get published…I was shocked. And overwhelmed.
And felt the awesome responsibility to tell great stories filled with truth and
hope.
I am personally a huge fan of your work, and
have been trying to read through some of your older series. While I love your
contemporary romance (Deep Haven, Christiansen Family, etc), I must admit the
suspense and adventure (Montana Rescue & The Montana Marshalls) are
definitely my favorites! As a writer, is there a particular genre that you
enjoy writing the most?
Thank you!!
I am definitely in my sweet spot with Epic Romance Adventure! I love
suspense, romance, high action stories and while I loved the Christiansen and
Deep Haven series, I am loving writing in this genre!
I love the strong family element in The Montana Marshalls series so far--- strong not only in their choices of careers, but in their faith as well. We see a similar family dynamic is the Christiansen Family. Were these families inspired by anyone in your real life?
I think I’ve tried to model them a little
after my own family. I’d like to think that I’m Ingrid, and my husband is John.
LOL. But seriously, what I try to do is create authentic characters, and in
doing so, I pull from people I know and lessons I’ve learned. And I dig deep into scripture and pray
through all my novels, so hopefully that also spills out onto the page!
Of the novels that I’ve had the chance to read
so far, The Montana Marshalls series definitely seems to be the BIGGEST. Bigger
suspense, bigger romance, and of course bigger travel! What type of research
went into creating this series that spans across the globe from Montana to
Russia?
I love big stories with international
locations. And I’m a huge series fan, so I wanted to create a series that
spanned the globe, went bigger and wider with plot and introduced a cast of
characters my readers would love. So I
brainstormed BIG. I got all my sons into a room for a weekend (I fed them, I
promise. And let them sleep, too. I know, I know. Thoughtful of me. I’m a kind
hostage taker.) and we came up with plethora of great ideas. From there, I put
it all into a series, book by book and…well, it was so fun to see it come
together!
We were introduced to the story of Wyatt and
Coco in the third book of the series Ford, a story that now continues in
Wyatt. I am loving this style where each consecutive book is truly a
direct continuation of the last, leaving me wanting more! This is quite
different than some of your other series in which we see familiar characters,
but can more easily be read as a standalone as well. What made you decide to go
with this style in The Montana Marshalls series?
I am binge watcher, and a binge reader! I love
to dive into a series and immerse into the lives and worlds of the characters. I
also hate waiting a year to read a continuation of a series…so I decided to
write these fast and get them out within a year. And I wanted the stories to be
like a television mini-series, with one story taking place right after the
next. So, it seemed like a good idea to put the “what happens next” in the back
of the book to whet the appetite for the next book. I have had some criticism
because a few people said they were cliff hangers, but I do finish the main
story of each character before I reveal the next book. But, it has worked to keep
readers engaged. 😊
I must admit I had a little fangirl moment at
the idea of having the chance to interview you, being one of my top three
favorites and all! What authors would you find yourself fangirling over? (Or
would be found in your ‘To Read’ pile anyway?)
WOW, thank you!!! 😊 This is a fun
interview! Oh, I totally fangirled Francine Rivers---I followed her into
the bathroom once to get her autograph! I would totally fangirl
Diana Gabaldon. 😊
Wyatt is certainly at the top of MY ‘To Read’ list, but in case anyone is still on the fence, what should everyone know about this book? Why will we love it?
Wyatt is the brother we know the least about.
But he has A LOT of secrets, and his own opinion of being a Marshall that might
surprise readers. However, he is every
bit a Marshall hero and someone I think readers will love. And, the story
returns to York and RJ, from Ford, and continues their journey…with a bit of a
surprise there too! I think it sets up for a great finale, too!
Thank you again for taking the time to answer my
questions. Before we go, I know I cannot wait to see what’s coming up from you!
Can you give us an idea on what we can look forward to next? Any projects you
are currently working on that you can share?
I just finished RJ. And I am loving how this
series ends! But in truth…there’s more!
I am currently writing the Price of Valor, book #3 in my Global Rescue series.
The Way of the Brave (book #1) comes out in January, and The Heart of a Hero
comes out in the summer of 2020. You might also see a few familiar faces…like
Hamilton Jones. It’s like the Montana Marshalls…only even bigger. Seriously. Look
for more on that in a couple months!
