Healthy and clean teeth are important for a
strong mouth. They’re used every time you eat, and you probably know just how
painful it is to have a toothache or an issue with your gums. Without teeth,
you would struggle to do the most important and simplest of tasks: eat. Even
so, many people neglect their teeth every single day without knowing the damage
they are causing to their own body.
These tips will help you to make sure your
teeth are kept clean, healthy, and strong.
1.
Brush
Thoroughly
Everyone knows you should brush your teeth two
times a day, but not everyone does a good job of it. You should reach the
toothbrush all the way to your back teeth to make sure you reach them all and
brush equally. If you don’t manage to clean right at the back, plaque and food
debris can build up without you knowing. This is bad for your teeth’s health,
and rather gross!
2.
Don’t
Brush Too Hard
Teeth may be bones, but they are fragile as
well. If you apply too much pressure when brushing your teeth, it can damage
the enamel layer. There are some electric
toothbrushes that tell you when you are brushing too hard; these are great for
ensuring you treat your teeth with care.
3.
Use
Mouthwash
Using mouthwash after you brush will help to make
sure all the debris that you have freed from between your teeth is washed away
down the sink, rather than back into your teeth. It’ll freshen up your mouth,
too.
4.
Visit
Your Dentist
Regular visits to your dentist, much like the trusted DentEssential, is crucial for a healthy mouth all around. You may think that your
teeth and gums are all fine and healthy, but a dentist will be able to spot
anything abnormal that you wouldn’t be able to. It’s also difficult to see
right to the back of your mouth and to your back teeth by yourself; your
dentist will be able to see these teeth and check how they are for you.
Furthermore, you should also visit a hygienist
so that they can clean your teeth professionally, ridding any build-up that may
be present.
5.
Remember
to Floss
Nearly every time you visit the dentist, they
will ask you if you floss. If you are part of those who sit there and guiltily
answer ‘no,’ then you need to change this.
Flossing between your teeth daily can help to prevent gum disease and tooth decay. Do yourself a favor and start
flossing now. Your gums may bleed at first, but this should stop once you start
to floss regularly.
6.
Avoid
Sugary Foods and Drinks
Too much sugar is going to cause you the most
teeth problems, specifically tooth decay. Plaque bacteria in your mouth uses
the sugar you eat to produce acid, which then attacks your enamel and weakens
your teeth. To avoid this, you should keep your sugar intake at a minimum to keep
your teeth safe and healthy.
You only get one set of adult teeth, so you had
better take care of them while you still can!
