Rock a Winter Floral Look with PinkBlush!

**I received a complimentary dress from PinkBlush in consideration for this post. All thoughts are 100% my own.

When you think floral... what do you think?

I don't know about you, but the first thing that comes to my mind is spring and summer. In fact, my warm weather wardrobe is packed full of gorgeous floral prints! They make me think of warmth and life...

But that doesn't mean we cannot still rock our floral styles all winter long, does it?

Absolutely not! What better way can you think of to bring some life and color into these cold and dreary days? Sometimes, especially in these final weeks leading up to spring, I really need a little spark of something to get rid of the winter blahs. A stunning floral can be just what I need to lift my spirits! Aside from that, while it may still seem like winter is going to drag on and on (and on), the reality is spring will be here before we know it, so investing in great floral prints NOW can be great transitional pieces as the new season arrives.

Today, I'm sharing a few of my personal thoughts and tips on styling your winter floral looks!

Think About Fabrics & Prints

A lightweight strapless sundress might be ideal for mid-July... but not so much mid-January! Instead look for options with more coverage like maxi dresses and skirts, long sleeves or even a great sweater and thicker materials when possible too. Personally, maxi skirts and dresses are one of my favorites during the winter. I love the look of dresses... but I get cold easily! Maxi dresses allow me to layer up underneath with some warm leggings, and no one is the wiser!

I also tend to lean more towards darker color prints as well--- olives, plums, teals, blacks, etc. In my mind, these just seem to be better suited for winter months than what yellow daisies might be. Still, you don't have to count pastels out completely. I fell in love with the Light Pink Rose Floral Chiffon Wrap Maxi Dress from PinkBlush, and couldn't wait until spring to incorporate it into my wardrobe. While I'm not certain I would choose it at the start of winter, it's the perfect piece for these final weeks and leading into spring. I love the deeper olive and rose tones for this season as well. Of course, I cannot help but think it's the perfect romantic look for Valentine's Day too!!

Consider Your Accessories

A big consideration to consider with styling your winter floral look is your choice of footwear. If I were to wear this same dress in the spring, I'd pair it with some pastel sandal heels. In the winter, I'm again all about layering it on to add some warmth, so I instead layered some boots underneath. While I styled this particular dress with a simple gold lariat necklace, I also really like going with darker bronzed metals in the winter as well. These again bring out some of those deeper tones and can look great with floral!

While this particular look didn't require much additional accessorizing, the addition of scarves, a sweater/blazer, thick patterned tights, etc can all be great ways to bring your floral looks into a more appropriate winter fashion.

Makeup Matters Too

Do you change your makeup to better suit your winter looks? I know I do! In the summer, I lean more towards a more natural look--- lighter eyes, a light pink lip or clear gloss, etc. In the winter time, I tend to go a little bit darker. Oftentimes for me this means a red or plum lip. With this particular look, I wanted something a little more romantic so I went with a deeper mauve... not as much as I might typically consider a winter look, but certainly darker than my summer lip too. For the eyes, I used a brown liner and bronze shadow. While makeup might be a bit of an afterthought at times, it truly can make a huge difference in your overall look!
