Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour & Giveaway for Seasoned by Jayme H. Mansfield, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
If you are looking for a different kind of romance novel, look no further than Seasoned. This is one book that reminds us that love can be found at any age, and that second chances truly DO exist.
In Seasoned, we meet Essie and Lou. Both are in their 80s and had loving marriages with their spouses until they passed. Neither really had any intention of meeting someone new at their age, but with some persistence of special people in their lives, they end up on the same dating site. They connect and find themselves drawn to each other, forming an unexpected relationship.
As I said, this is a rather different type of romance as we don't usually read about those at this age falling in love. That certainly set it apart! Initially, I must admit I did have a hard time getting into the story. I'm not sure if that is because I couldn't relate to the characters, or what exactly. What I do know, is that I nearly found myself ready to put the book down. Then nearly halfway through the book, some rather tragic secrets started to be revealed and I found myself glad that I hadn't given up too soon. Things most certainly got interesting at that point. I won't give too much away, but in the end it turned out to be a great story of not just having a second chance at love, but a second chance of forgiveness and the power of God's grace. It was a beautiful story, and one that I would certainly recommend to fans of Christian fiction.

Great review! Agree - it is not your typical second chance romance but this definitely is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to read more book from Jayme soon. :)
Seasoned sounds like a great book and one that I’d enjoy reading. This is a new to me author and I’d believe I would like her writing.
ReplyDeleteAs an older reader, this novel sounds like one that would especially appeal to me. Since both main characters have been married before and lost their spouses, they would be "seasoned" in the life experiences that are common to couples. I'm looking forward to reading this book.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing sounds like a great book
