Welcome to the Blog Tour & Giveaway for Take a Right at the Mistletoe by Barbara Brutt, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
First and foremost, as I primarily review Christian reads, it is important to note that Take a Right at the Mistletoe is NOT a Christian read but rather a clean holiday romance. Still, as such there are some things in the book that might be objectionable to conservative readers... the most notably being that it does feature a same sex couple. The lead character Matilda has two moms and while they are not the focus of the story, she does live with them and they are mentioned many times throughout the story. I realize for many this will be an absolute deal breaker and so it is worth mentioning before reading. For those able to look past it, you will find a short and sweet holiday romance that will transport you to Vienna for the season.
In this book, we meet Matilda who is working at a Christmas market with her moms and a variety of quirky character. While working there, she meets a tourist--- an American visiting Vienna for the season. When he critiques her marzipan, she makes it her mission to create a marzipan creation he will enjoy and one worthy of her culinary school application... her dream. What follows is a romance that has all the makings of a good ol' fashioned Hallmark movie... and as anyone who knows me well knows, that is certainly a compliment.
As a novella, it was quite short and perhaps not quite as fleshed out as I would have liked to have seen, but sometimes that is just what we need during the busy holiday season--- something quick and filled with holiday joy. It certainly was that. Overall, a delightful read worth checking out this holiday season.
