About the Book
Book: Operation Grendel
Author: Daniel Shwabauer
Genre: Christian Fiction, Futuristic Action & Adventure
It’s the war story he’s dreamed of. But the battle may cost him his mind.
Military journalist Raymin Dahl thinks he’s finally getting the story of a lifetime. Secret peace talks on a remote tropical moon are about to surrender five colonized worlds—and six hundred million civilians—to a ruthless enemy.
But when his commanding officer, Captain Ansell Sterling, is fatally wounded before the negotiations can begin, Dahl can no longer just report on the mission. He’s ordered to complete it. With help from the AI embedded in Sterling’s comms bracelet, Dahl must impersonate his commander—a Marine Corps hero and psychological operations expert.
However, Sterling’s AI may be luring him to surrender more than he realizes. And the mission Corporal Dahl thinks he’s running isn’t the only operation underway.

My Thoughts
If you're into military science fiction stories, Operation Grendel is 100% the book for you!
I must admit though, this is not a genre that I am all that into, and as such isn't a book that I would have typically chosen for myself. There are so many different types of books for ALL readers, and this one just wasn't my typical type. Still all that said, regardless of genre, I can still appreciate good storytelling and good writing and this one definitely has both. The author did a great job of bringing this world to life and making the reader feel as though they are there living it with the characters. The characters were well developed, and drew the reader in. While I might not have chosen it for myself, and wouldn't be likely to choose it again... it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. I feel like those who actually DO prefer this genre will certainly be able to connect with the story and get the most out of it. If that sounds like you, it's definitely one to check out. That said, if it's not your preferred genre you might find yourself enjoying it anyway, so definitely worth a read either way.
