I love stories. I’ve always loved them. Stories carry you away, make you think, take you on suspense-filled rides and introduce you to characters that you love so much you want to meet them in real life. I’m such a voracious reader that at the age of nine, my eye doctor told me if I didn’t start reading with more light, I’d need glasses way too early. Can you relate?

My Thoughts

Unintended Detour is the third book in The Unintended Series. This was the first book in the series that I had personally read. While there were mentions of previous events that made it clear to me that this was a part of a series, I didn't find that I was lost or that not having read those previous books impacted my enjoyment of this particular story one bit... and enjoy it I did!

From page one, I was drawn right into the mystery from the past. The story is told primarily in present day time (I believe only venturing back to the 30s just two times, including that initial introduction), but oh it drew me in with it's tale of treasure and ghost stories and secrets. I found myself unable to put this one down wondering what secrets would be revealed next. There were so many twists and turns to keep me guessing--- some of them I saw coming and many that I didn't. This one certainly kept me at the edge of my seat. I could not get enough.

Mixed in with all the mystery there was also a good message about God's timing as well, which I really enjoyed... and I felt like it was tied into the story beautifully in a way that made sense and came across very naturally. I believe this was the first book that I had read from this author, but after reading this one, I can say with certainty it will not be the last!
