Dulcie Dameron is a Christian wife and mother enjoying life in the Midwest with her family and dogs. She loves writing and is a member of the ACFW. Most days you'll find her walking barefoot through her garden, digging in the dirt or snuggled up with a good book- most likely romance!

InstagramWelcome Dulcie! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and allowing my readers a chance to get to know you and your new book Not Since You.
I like to start these interviews the same way, with something fun to break the ice. Can you share 5 random facts about you that we will not find in your bio?
1.) I am NOT a morning person. Like, at all. 😊
2.) I grow and dry my own herbs like chamomile, sage, and lemon balm.
3.) Believe it or not, I grew up as the youngest of seven children.
4.) My husband and I have been married for almost fourteen years!
5.) My secret hidden talent is that I can chirp like a bird…or a dolphin. Depends on who you ask. 😊
When did you first discover you had a passion for writing?
I enjoyed writing poetry in junior high, but I probably didn’t realize my passion for writing until after I had my second child. It was then that I started blogging regularly. It wasn’t until this past September that I actually started writing fiction, though.
Not Since You is your debut novel, congrats! Can you share what this experience of bringing your story from idea to novel has been like?
It’s been amazing! To go from having a story rattling around in your brain for a while, to actually being able to see the thing come to life in print is something I’ll never take for granted. I knew I had a story to write, but it took actually sitting down to type for it to really work itself out. I wrote the very rough draft of Not Since You in one month! Editing and re-writes took me much longer. 😊
What was it like seeing your words in print for the first time?
Indescribable. Very surreal, honestly.
What was the most challenging part of bringing this story to life? The most rewarding?
For me, the most challenging part was knowing when and where to leak the secrets. Originally, I had let them spill too soon and knew it, so it made the entire story feel off. Finding out where to work them in was a little challenging.
The most rewarding part was probably getting my cover created. Seeing a small visual representation of my story was so exciting!
Can you tell us a little bit more about Not Since You?
I like to say that if you’re looking for a story like Gilmore Girls meets Jesus, then this one is for you! I think you’ll fall in love with the smalltown of River Hollow and enjoy meeting the fun, quirky characters that live there! This story in particular is one of redemption, love, and second chances. I don’t want to give too much away before you read the book (No Spoilers!), but it follows the story of two high-school sweethearts, torn apart by a devastating accident. When they meet again years later, sparks start flying, but so do the verbal jabs! It’s a fun, sweet read that will totally give you late-summer festival vibes.
What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
I think the biggest thing I’d like for readers to take away from this book is that God doesn’t want you to live with the guilt and shame of your past. We’ve all messed up and done things wrong. But we also serve a God who specializes in second chances. For me, that’s what this book was about. It wasn’t just a second chance for Dorian and Claudia’s love, it was another chance for them both to be redeemed back to a fulfilling Christian life.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer these questions. Before you go, are there any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?
Yes! There will be at least four more books that I’m planning to release in my Secrets of River Hollow Series! I hope you’ll follow along in the lives of these characters with me!
After that, I hope to finish a Rom Com Series that I started this past January, so stay tuned for that, too!
I liked the interview.

ReplyDeleteThe book looks engaging with the Second Chance undertones. As a nurse, accidents tend to disrupt lives with a ripple effect.
