Have you ever finished watching a movie and just knew right away that this was one that was going to stick with you?
Even before the final credits rolled on LIFEMARK, I knew this would be one such movie for me.
From the first moment that I saw the trailer, I knew I wanted to see this movie... but I also knew that it would very much be an emotional one too, just based on the subject matter alone. I thought I had prepared myself for the waterworks that were sure to follow, but I still found myself surprised by just how emotional the movie was.
But first, the big question? What is LIFEMARK? This movie is based on an inspiring true story--- a story of hope, overcoming obstacles, reveling in the art of faith, grace and perseverance. Take a look:
About the Movie:
David’s comfortable world is turned upside down when his birthmother unexpectedly reaches out to him, longing to meet the 18-year-old son she’s only held once. With the encouragement of his adoptive parents, David embarks on a journey of discovery that leads to a staggering truth from his past. From executive producers Kirk Cameron and the Kendrick Brothers—creators of War Room and Fireproof—comes LIFEMARK, inspired by an incredible true story that celebrates the gift of life.
As you can likely tell from this trailer, this might not be a movie that appeals to all people. It touches on some rather touchy subjects, after all! I have to say though, it did so absolutely beautifully and I would say with grace as well. More than anything, I felt like this movie was very pro-adoption. Yes, it touches on other alternatives... but that is not the focus. The focus is on David's story... and it is a story that will most certainly have an impact on all who see it! The cast did a fantastic job of bringing that story to life in a way that truly touched on all of the emotions. I certainly found myself tearing up during parts of the movie, of course... but I also found myself laughing out loud at points as well. I think that balance was very much needed, and done so very well! I do think that Kirk Cameron playing this role of an adoptive father, a role that mirrors his real life as well, certainly added some authenticity as well, though perhaps that's just me.
This beautiful and impactful movie is one that definitely deserves to be seen. You can go see LIFEMARK in theaters starting September 9th! Buy your tickets today: https://lifemarkmovie.com/
