“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” – Mark 8:36 (NIV)
We live in a culture today where fame is something that many strive for. And while fame might not always be a bad thing, so often people find themselves looking for fame as the ultimate goal... even if the path to get there isn't one that would be pleasing to God.
In the new movie on Pure Flix, "God's Country Song", we get a glimpse at that idea. Take a look:
Only God knows if Noah can be the man and father he’s meant to be. Will Noah stop chasing selfish dreams, heal broken relationships and start down God's path for his future?
“God’s Country Song” is a multigenerational story about faith, fatherhood and forgiveness. Noah has always resented his father for not supporting his dreams of fame and fortune, but when he learns how his father gave up his own ambitions to serve God and his family, he learns a valuable lesson.
God, family and country music--- is there a better combination? I grew up on and love country music, so I must admit that I was pretty excited about this movie--- even if I wasn't quite sure what to expect from it. And I have to say, it absolutely did not disappoint. In fact, this might be one of my favorites on Pure Flix that I've had the chance to watch so far!
The thing I enjoyed about this movie is that while faith was certainly at the center of the film, it wasn't a movie about perfect people walking their faith perfectly. Instead, Noah is a broken man pursuing his dreams at all costs. When we first meet him, he is learning that he has a young son that he had no idea existed. We also see him throughout struggle with learning to be a good dad and trying to figure out the importance of family and faith before worldly ambitions. We see him struggle with alcohol and all that goes with that too. It is through that brokenness that we are able to see a beautiful message about redemption and forgiveness, as well as following God's purpose for our lives over our own.
And I absolutely loved it! I thought this was a wonderfully done movie, and one that I am certain I will want to rewatch again.
