Are you familiar with the story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family? I must admit that while I've heard her name and have even read many beautiful quotes from her in the past, I actually was not at all familiar with who she was or what she and her family were known for. So, when I heard about this new cinematic event, I was intrigued to learn more about her.
Oh, what a story this was! "The Hiding Place" tells the heroic true story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family, who risked everything to hide Jewish refugees by the hundreds during World War II before being discovered and ultimately facing the consequences. As such, it was not an easy story to watch... but oh what an important one... and so beautifully told.
The story was portrayed on the stage and filmed for cinematic audiences. This isn't the first of this type of event that I have watched, but I do believe it is the most beautifully done. It has that intimate and simple feel of a play, but the cinematography is very well done too. More importantly of all, the story shines through in all that simplicity.
Due to the subject matter, this isn't one that I would recommend for younger or more sensitive audiences, but it's certainly an important one to watch--- a story of faith, hope, love and forgiveness in the face of unthinkable evil.
