About the Author
I am an artist, writer, online course creator (Broken to Beautiful…rena-groot.mykajabi.com), B & B host, have a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Religious Education, have been a teacher in Canada and China, a tour manager from the Rockies to the Pacific, and God has given me the honor of being an ambassador with “The Department of Eternal Affairs” to so many cool places—He must have laughed knowing His plans for me…that one day I would be praying with a voodoo queen in Haiti, another day leading a dying woman to Jesus in a hut in Belize, another day sharing the love of Jesus as an earthquake shook the Earth under my feet. God is beyond amazing. I started a blog to bless, encourage, and sometimes challenge people. Here’s the link. renagroot.com.

Author Interview
Can you share 5 random facts about you that we will not find in your bio?
Oh my. Hmmm.
1. I am marrying the love of my life on July 21st
.
2. I prayed with a voodoo queen in Haiti, asking Jesus to please have the demons
stop making her run naked through her village.
3. I taught high school in China.
4. I wrote a course called Broken to Beautiful- Transformed by God’s Power to
help women become stronger and braver.
5. The fact that I am still alive is a miracle of God’s grace.
When did you first discover you had a passion for writing?
I discovered I loved writing when I was in high school. I wrote an essay for a teacher about
the topic of slavery and he said it was a poetic outpouring on mankind. I remember writing
that essay and not being able to stop until it was finished…the ideas just flowed. When I was
in Seminary a professor praised my writing. That was inspirational. I didn’t really realize I
wanted to be a writer. It’s just that I started writing journals when I became a Christian a
bazillion years ago…and discovered that when I wrote I got in touch with my deepest
thoughts and feelings. My addiction to writing was really born while sitting under a
mosquito net in China. I couldn’t stop writing from morning until night until A Life Set Free
was finished. I found I could express ideas better when I wrote them than when I said them.
What drew you to your chosen genre?
I find history to be fascinating. Because I have an idea of what happened on the Oregon
Trail, it was easy to create a fictional story based on several actual accounts.
Are you a planner or a pantser?
I am both a planner and a pantser. I plan…then I watch the story unfold and take turns I
never expected. Such fun!
If you had to describe your main character(s) in just three words, what would they be?
Godly, determined, spunky.
