Bible reading goals are fairly common ones for Christians--- be it to read every day, start a new reading plan, read it in its entirety and so on. No matter what those personal goals might be, spending more time in the word is always a fantastic goal to have at any time of year. But how can we better reach those goals?
Here are a few tips:
Set a Reasonable Goal
I don't know about you, but if I've set a goal and find myself falling behind on it, I can get a little frustrated with myself and give up if I feel like I'm not going to be able to achieve it as I'd planned. As such, I've found that setting goals that I know I can reach work better for me. Reading the Bible in a year is a common goal that many Christians makes, and it works well for some... but for others a more reasonable goal might be just to tackle the Old Testament or even simply spending more time in the Bible than you currently are. Do what works for YOU and don't worry if it's not the same as someone else.
Use a Bible Reading Plan
Bible reading plans are a great way to help guide your reading. There are a variety of reading plans out there so you are sure to be able to find one that fits your personal needs! I personally plan to start a chronological reading plan myself.
Find a Bible You Love
These days, there are so many Bible options to choose from-- study bibles, devotional bibles, etc... and in a wide variety of translations too. I love having multiple translations available to compare, but finding a translation that you enjoy and can understand is so important. The best Bible is the one you will actually read after all.
Give Yourself Grace
This goes back to that first point... if you find yourself falling behind on your goals, remember it's absolutely okay. You can always start again anytime at all.
Find Resources to Guide You
Reading the Bible is important, yes... but understanding the Bible? That's where we are going to really see a difference in our relationship with God. Using tools that will help you make sense of what you're reading is perhaps one of the greatest things we can do to help keep our reading goals on track and actually benefit from what we're reading.

I was given a copy of this beautiful Handbook to check out for myself and I was so impressed. First and foremost, it's absolutely gorgeous!
