The Midnight Princess by Keira Dominguez: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

“A New Year's kiss for luck?”

Princess Alma never loses her cool. She's got decorum to maintain, an arranged marriage to plan, and rival Vorburg to cream in the ongoing trade negotiations. But when her fiancé, the Hereditary Grand Duke of Himmelstein, is caught with an Italian bikini model, her carefully crafted life implodes. At a time like this, who wouldn't get the tiniest bit drunk on New Year's Eve and end up kissing a scruffy stranger?

Thanks to a paternity suit, a DNA test, and an unexpected legal victory, Jacob is the new crown prince of Vorburg. Leaving his bespoke furniture-making business behind, he's unprepared for the rigid protocol and public demands of royal life. The State Visit between Sondmark and Vorburg is coming up. Good thing he's got a tutor in a gorgeously uptight, definitely engaged princess.

"This story is everything!" The Midnight Princess delivers a funny, sweet, and sparkling opposites attract romance.

The Author

Keira Dominguez grew up in Springfield, Oregon where she learned to refer to hazelnuts as filberts. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Kind of Random Historical Studies which would serve her well as a future sweet romance novelist.

Though her personal style runs the gamut between “I’m wearing eyeliner” and “I’m driving the speed limit so no one catches me wearing pajamas to the school drop-off”, Keira enjoys having opinions about award show fashions, scandalous historical drama, and dishy royal trivia. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Keira lives in Portland, Oregon, finding a lot of romantic inspiration in the way her husband maximizes deductions when doing the taxes, brings her Advil when she’s sick, and unloads the dishwasher.

Book Review

The Midnight Princess is the third book in the Royals of Sondmark series. I had not personally read the previous books in the series and found that this read just fine as a standalone, though I did find myself wanting to go back and catch up on the rest of the series because I enjoyed this one so much!

Right from the start, this story drew me in. If you're a reader who doesn't like to wait for that first kiss--- this one is definitely for you! The story starts out with the usually put together Princess Alma having a little too much champagne and kissing a stranger on New Year's Eve--- a stranger who turns out to be the new crown prince of Vorburg, Jacob--- who she is tasked with teaching about all things royal to prepare him for his new role! I absolutely could not get enough of this story. Their chemistry is undeniable from the start, and I loved all the pining and struggle between heart and duty. It was so perfectly done. This book gave me a little bit of a Princess Diaries vibe--- but instead of an awkward teenager, we're instead given a rugged prince instead--- and I am absolutely one hundred percent here for it! If you're looking for a wonderful royal romance, this is absolutely one not to be missed!

The Midnight Princess is a closed-door romance with kisses only. There is some minor language throughout the story.
