Hopelessly Devoted by Ellie Hall: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

She’s a former heiress. He’s a billionaire beach property tycoon. With the beloved town library under threat, these rivals must join forces or lose everything, including a chance with each other.

Bea
As the last in my circle to tie the knot, it’s ironic that I go from riches to rags, er, wedding gowns. After I inherit my aunt’s bridal boutique, I could wipe my tears with chiffon, but I’ll make lace out of lemons while I wait for Mr. Perfect—who’s nothing like my lifelong crush. Nuh uh. Then Mr. High School Heartbreaker himself strides in, full of swagger...and a fiancée.

Finn
One of life’s cruelest jokes is wearing golden handcuffs, forced to help my stepmother-to-be plan her wedding. Having left my small town without looking back, when my eyes land on my secret high school crush, I can no longer resist temptation. But there’s a problem. My company is positioned to tear down her shop, and she’s intent on stopping me.

In high school, we had undercover crushes on each other, complete with loads of mutual pining. The catch is we’re from rival families. Adults now, we create the rules, but can we break them for a second chance?

Book 3 in the SoCal Summer Kisses series is a second chance, snack size short read that will leave you satisfied with all the swoony kisses and a HEA but none of the steam or cliffhangers.

The Author

Ellie Hall is a USA Today bestselling author. If only that meant she could wear a tiara and get away with it. ;) She loves puppies, books, and the ocean. Writing sweet romance with lots of firsts and fizzy feels gives her joy. Oh, and chocolate chip cookies are her fave. Ellie believes in dreaming big, working hard, and lazy Sunday afternoons spent with her family and dog in gratitude for God’s grace.

Book Review

Hopelessly Devoted is the third and final book in SoCal Summer Kisses series. While you might see some familiar characters make appearances, these could be enjoyed just fine as standalones.

Like the other books in this series, this is another short and sweet second-chance romance set in the same small town. One of the things that I really loved about this series was that although they are all second chance romances, they are all really quite unique... and this one perhaps most of all. Finn and Bea didn't have much of a first chance at all--- they both crushed on each other in high school, shared one moment... and then he disappeared after graduation. When he returns years later, he doesn't remember her... or anything about high school at all. Fun, right? Amnesia can be a trope that's hard to pull off, but I really loved it in this story. It was fun and a really unique way to set this story apart... I loved these two together and seeing them get a real shot at making it work was the perfect ending to this sweet series! For a short story (easily read in a sitting or two), there was so much packed in... and I enjoyed every minute.

Hopelessly Devoted is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
