Falling in Love with a Tiny Bat by Camilla Evergreen: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

“Snowflake?”

My stomach drops into my toes as I turn to find Alexios wandering through the evening like a wraith. The instant my eyes are on him, he stops. Takes a step back.

Scanning me from head to toe, he asks, “What’s wrong?”

“You got here fast.”

“You beckoned.” With all the elegance in the world, he bows. “I exist to serve.”

Facing him squarely, I cross my arms. “That’s a concerning statement coming from a faerie. You good, bro?”

His smile is devious and devilishly handsome when he lifts his head. “I did not specify who I exist to serve. It could be my prince, myself…or even you, if you could make it worth my time.”

My gut tangles up in knots at the mere notion.

“I believe I asked what’s wrong,” he says.

Well. For one, I have a flirty faerie soulmate in my driveway.

And, for two, I'm about to bind myself to him. Forever.

The Author

Camilla Evergreen is an alias of USA Today bestselling author Anne Stryker. Originally intended as a dumping ground for all things lacking fantasy, Camilla/Anne came to the shocking discovery that writing sarcastic, chaotic romcoms full of quippy heroines and adoring heroes has a kick to it.

Camilla/Anne’s neurodivergent tendencies leave her hyperfocused on writing sweet and sassy romances from dawn till dusk and lending whatever her current creative obsessions are to her characters. From arranged marriages to falling for the boss, there’s lots of love to go around.

Book Review

Falling in Love with a Tiny Bat is the fifth book in the That's (Para)Normal series. While you may be able to enjoy this as a standalone, I definitely recommend reading the previous books in the series first to better understand and enjoy it. This will give you more understanding of this world the author has created and the relationships between all of these characters.

As always, Camilla Evergreen has done a masterful job of combining tough topics and mental health struggles with sarcasm and humor (and fantasy) in a way that just works in a way that only she can pull off. She also does a great job of letting readers know what to expect before reading, and I cannot stress this enough--- please DO read that note before deciding if this one is right for you. While all of the books in the series have touched on some difficult topics, I think this one definitely touches on some that are a little darker and that I personally found difficult to read myself--- although the author does a great job of handling them with sensitivity and could be quite therapeutic, by nature, they were harder to read about. Read the warning and take care of your mental health. Zahra and Xios were such wonderful, complex characters with fantastic banter, and I couldn't help but be drawn into their story. It definitely has me looking forward to what will happen next in the series too.

Falling in Love with a Tiny Bat is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have a bit of minor language.
