The Book
Virginia Remillard, famous amongst her three siblings for her unmatched tenacity, has never shied away from going after what she wants in life… unless you count long-time friend of the family and her forever crush, Ryan Hood. Though she’s confident he’s noticed her in a new way over the past few years, Ryan refuses to acknowledge Ginny as anything more than the cute, baby sister of his friends.
In a moment of unbridled frustration, Ginny takes out her annoyance with Ryan on an unknown patron of her favorite record store, leaving a sternly-worded letter any southern woman would be proud of and more than a little sass in her wake, leading to an unexpected pen pal in him, Melody Man.
When Ginny and Ryan start seeing more of each other, thanks to Sugartree’s upcoming Bicentennial celebration and a flag-football game they're both committed to winning, Melody Man quickly becomes Ginny’s ever-encouraging confidante and a friendship she hadn’t known she needed.
The Author
B.R. Goodwin is a Georgia native, married to her college sweetheart, and the mother of three wild animal children she adores.
When she isn’t writing Christian Fiction, she’s reading, hiking, bee-keeping, soccer mom-ing, or planning her family’s next big adventure while drinking copious amounts of tea & coffee. Above all else, the heartbeat of everything she does in life, friendship, and writing is with an eye to sharing the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ with everyone she meets.
Book Review
Maple Melodies is the fourth book in the Sugartree Romance series. While you could probably enjoy this story as a standalone, I think you'll get the most out of it if you've read the previous books--- as there are several references made to previous events and you'll just better be able to understand the family dynamics. We've gotten to know Ginny and Ryan throughout the rest of the series, so I was excited to get to their story... and it did not disappoint...though there were certainly some moments I wanted to give Ryan a little shake! Theirs was definitely a slow burn... but the payoff was so worth it. I loved the letters between Ginny and Melody Man and found that really added a lot of fun to the story. Each book in the series has had a playlist, which my music loving heart has loved--- but as the title suggests, music played an even bigger role in this one--- and I think had my favorite playlist yet! Between the music, the laughs, the pining and the strong Christian messages, there was so much to love about this story! While I'm sad to see this series come to an end (because I absolutely adore the Remillard family and am not ready to say goodbye to the antics), this was certainly a great way to end it!
Maple Melodies is a Christian romance with kisses only and no language.
