I was recently given the opportunity to watch the movie for myself prior to the theatrical release. Wow... what a beautiful story! Set during Nazi-occupied France during WWII, this wasn't the easiest of movie to watch... it was emotional and heartbreaking... but oh so beautiful. Yes, it was a grandmother telling of her experiences living during this time... but it was also a beautiful story about the power of bravery and kindness. WHITE BIRD is a deeply moving coming-of-age story and testament to the courage it takes to extend kindness and love during the harshest of times. This is a story that will touch your heart and make you think... and one you'll probably want to have tissues handy for. Because of the subject matter, it's probably not one you'll want to take younger children too... but it's definitely a beautiful message for older children and teenagers.
