Cinnamon Spice Kisses by M. J. Padgett: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

The idyllic town of Coldstone Creek is wrought with opportunities for romance…unless you’re trying to avoid it like the plague.

When Bethany Porter’s husband filed for a divorce, she fought with everything she had to save her marriage. But he left anyway. So she packed her things and relocated from the city to small-town Coldstone Creek to start anew. Years later, the jewelry designer still hasn’t recovered from her broken heart, wounded pride, and shattered confidence.

Nicholas Lowry is the town's beloved Fire Chief, turkey fryer extraordinaire, and closet cinnamon roll hater. That doesn’t stop him from his daily visits to Sweet and Salty, where a certain brunette bombshell almost always spends her mornings sipping coffee with her best friend, Audrey Thomas. He’s pretty sure Bethany Porter is attracted to him, but her hot and cold nature makes him second-guess every interaction.

After Bethany accidentally glues herself to a shelving display, Nicholas comes to the rescue, and an undeniable spark ignites between them. Add in one meddling best friend, a wise old woman, and an overbearing mayor’s wife, and you have a recipe for love.

Can Bethany let her guard down long enough to let Nick in, or will she shut down love at every turn?

***Cinnamon Spice Kisses is a sweet, swoony autumn to winter romance with loads of heart, healing, and second chances at life and love!***

The Author

M. J. Padgett is first and foremost a mom. Her free-spirited daughter has quite a vivid imagination, and her antics sometimes find their way into her mommy’s work. She is a lover of all things chocolate, a Grimm and Dickens addict, a self-proclaimed smarty-pants, and an introvert to the core.

Writing is her true passion (after raising her daughter, of course), and she writes as often as possible. One of her favorite things about writing is creating a world where people can escape reality for a little while, maybe even walk away feeling hopeful about the real world around them. When it comes to reading, she loves a book that can make her forget where she is no matter the genre. If she can get lost and feel like the characters are her real friends, she’s a happy reader.

Book Review

This was such a cute read! I was drawn into Bethany and Nick's story right away, with the first of a few little accidents that have him coming to her rescue. The chemistry between the two is evident right away, but Bethany is apprehensive about romance following her divorce. As such, this is a bit of a slow burn as we watch her healing her heart and letting her walls down as the story goes on. Of course, a little meddling with their friends and family helped things along and kept things interesting too. I loved not only how very patient Nick was in waiting for her to be ready, but also how well they communicated with one another.  It was just a really sweet relationship between the two and I couldn't help but enjoy them. While it was definitely a shorter read, it didn't feel rushed or incomplete in any way... just the perfect length for those looking for a Thanksgiving into Christmas read! It certainly has me looking forward to the Hearts on Fire series!

Cinnamon Spice Kisses is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
