We've all heard those words a million times, right? 

As Christians, we know very well of the importance of laying it all down. There are many verses that we can find throughout the Bible that address the topic of surrendering all. Each Sunday at church, we find ourselves singing familiar verses reminding us to do just that... but do we? Really? I'm certain I'm not alone in saying that this can be a huge struggle--- we want to surrender all, but we also kind of want to hold onto it too.

I was recently given a copy of this beautiful book to check out for myself. At the time of the posting, I have not read through it in its entirety but have read enough to get a good feel about the book... but I am enjoying what I've read so far. When I look at a Christian nonfiction book, I want that book to be drowning in scriptures. I want to know where the author is getting their information so that I can go directly to the source too and compare... this one is a great example of that. Yes, there are personal stories mixed in, which I also love, making it more relatable and understandable, but each of the eight chapters is also packed full with scriptural references throughout. At the end of each chapter, we are also given some questions to consider, with space to write down our responses right in the book. These questions take everything in that chapter and help us to see how we can apply them in our own lives. We are also given more scriptures to dig into for further reading. This book is inspired by the themes of the feature film The Forge. I personally have not yet had a chance to watch the movie, so while I'm certain this would be a great companion to those who HAVE and want to dig deeper into those themes, I can also say that it's wonderful and powerful all on its own too!
