It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I love the holiday season... all the lights and decorations, the music and movies and traditions! The holidays can be a very busy time for all of us, but as Christians, one thing that we try to strive for is to make sure that the reason we celebrate isn't lost in all the hustle and bustle. We want to make sure to keep Jesus front and center in all our holiday celebrations... and to remind our children to do the same!
Finding Jesus is a fun way to do just that. Take a look:
About the Product:
Gift your loved ones a fun activity that teaches the true meaning of Christmas. Find God’s Word daily inside the pocket of a 12” plush, huggable Finding Jesus doll. These short scriptures and sweet illustrations, printed on 24 double-sided puzzle pieces, come together to make a beautiful picture. Unlike most puzzles, however, the finished product is only revealed one day at a time. A counter-worthy scripture book correlates to each puzzle piece and walks through the birth of our Savior. Watch the artwork unfold daily within the unique dual-sided puzzle box frame. Finding Jesus is designed to intrigue curiosity and wonder leading up to Christmas instilling the habit to Seek Him First.
What a fun idea this is! In some ways, it's similar to the idea of the Elf on the Shelf and could definitely be used as a Christian alternative or as just an additional family tradition. I love this idea of teaching children to seek Jesus--- in this case, quite literally! Each day for 24 days, when they find Jesus, they also find him holding a puzzle piece that coordinates with a verse found in the included scripture book. As each day goes on, they get more pieces until the finally get the full picture! How fun is that!? But it also such a great meaning behind it too, as the founder said, “the puzzle is kinda like how we walk with Jesus…we don’t know the full picture, but we get what we need for each day and he works it all out to a beautiful picture."
I just love that! Now, at 11 and 17, my kids are certainly on the older end for this tradition, but you know what? My 11-year-old still thinks its super fun anyway! I have no doubts younger children will love it even more. Each day, it becomes more and more exciting to see what the next piece will be and how they puzzle will all come together. In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, this could be a great reminder to just slow down and enjoy the moments too. There are so many ways to incorporate this fun activity into your holiday festivities. It can be as simple as just collecting the puzzle pieces and reading the verse each day... or making it your own with leaving instructions for different activities each day (collecting donations for a pantry, baking Christmas cookies, the possibilities are absolutely endless!) I cannot wait to add this cute tradition to our own family traditions!
