The Book
“Everyone should find someone to share their story with.”
Exhausted and burnt-out, singer-songwriter, Bea Thompson, needs a break and some space from her once-promising career as an indie musician. Seeking refuge from the crushing pressures of the industry, she books a last minute stay at a special childhood sanctuary, the birthplace of her most treasured friendship: Meadowbrook Ranch. She only hopes the boy she found in the hayloft all those years ago still lives there.
Over the years, lone cowboy, Samuel Taggart (Tag), has built a name for himself as a stock contractor for the rodeo circuit. Shackled by the trauma of childhood sexual abuse, he’s resigned himself to a life of solitude at Meadowbrook Ranch, working around the clock for the only family he’s ever been able to count on—the horses.
But one stormy night, an unexpected visitor upends his quiet life. The girl from the hayloft—his long term pen pal—is back, covered head to toe in mud, and excited to see him.
After spending years pouring his heart out through letters to Bea, finally seeing her again face-to-face sends his heart into lockdown.
Will he trust his old friend with the painful storms of his past, or will the rain prove that some souls are too far gone for love?
We Redeemed the Rain, is a contemporary romance set in Central Texas and the first installment of Meadowbrook Ranch—an emotional series about trauma, healing, and love amid crisis.

Book Review
There are truly no words to adequately describe my feelings for this book and everything it made me feel. One thing I know for certain when I pick up a book by Ashley Dill is that I will absolutely have my heart broken and find myself sobbing... but that she'll put it back together by the end. This was no exception. While all of her books have taken on tough topics, I think there is something especially devastating about childhood sexual abuse. As such, it was not an easy book to read, those first few chapters especially absolutely gutted me. While everything happens off pages without any explicit details and was handled very well, it was still definitely a hard one to take in. Tag and Bea's story was hard and messy, yes... but it was also really beautifully written--- so full of tenderness, patience, healing... and yes, undeniable chemistry too. This was definitely a VERY slow burn, but it felt just right for their love story, and I absolutely adored it. Sometimes in romance books dealing with trauma it can almost seem like falling in love is the magic cure all... and I love that this one didn't feel that way. Yes, Bea did help him in some ways, but his struggles did not disappear overnight. If you love an emotional romance that isn't afraid to walk through the hard moments in life, this is absolutely one you will not want to miss.We Redeemed the Rain is a closed-door romance but does have a fade to black moment and some heavier kisses. There is also a good amount of mild language throughout as well.
