Book Excerpt

“You-you shot them…” Tears trickled down Doctor Orlova’s cheeks. In shock.

Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time for Tyler to wait for her to calm down. “We’re gonna get out of here. Just stay with me.”

She nodded.

Tyler took a step and shot the lock off the refrigerator. He dragged the door open and snatched up a bottle of pills. Tossed it to her. “C’mon, we need to move.” He led her out of the room, keeping his Glock ready and her behind him.

Oil covered part of the floor. Flames licked at it. The heat raged. Smoke filled the area. Tyler shoved Orlova towards the end of the hall.

“Go!” he choked out.

She ran to the end of the hall. He followed her. Bullets thudded into the wall just inches from his head. He turned and slipped behind the wall. Peered around the edge. Three men stood at the other side of the hall near the elevator, shooting at him. Bullets chipped away the corner of the wall. Tyler returned fire. Two guys collapsed into the flames. The slide on Tyler’s Glock locked back.

Out of bullets.
