I was recently given the chance to enjoy an advanced screening and share my thoughts. What a movie this was! I was definitely drawn into the film right away--- the romance fan in me loving the chance to see how Austin's parents started their rather unique relationship. I enjoyed the way the story was told and thought it was just super captivating. I will admit there were just a few brief moments that I feared that this would end up being a movie that painted life with an autistic child in a negative light, which is not something I enjoy as a parent to an autistic child myself. Thankfully, this was not that. It certainly didn't sugarcoat some of the struggles that families may experience, BUT ultimately it was a story of a father and son... and more importantly, a father learning to really see his son and learn from the light that he brought. It was a story of family, of faith and one that while tackling some difficult subjects, also brought a lot of humor too.
