The Book
Once upon a time...I fell for my brother's best friend.
I'm not proud of myself, okay? But these things happen when you're young and impressionable. The point is, I got over it. I moved on.
Except now Felix Caine is back—back with his easy smile and sparkling eyes, and he’s making me an offer I (literally) can’t refuse. He needs help with a romantic article he’s writing, and he won’t take no for an answer.
The more time I spend with him, the more I remember all the reasons I fell for him before. But he’s not just my brother’s flirtatious friend this time. He’s my friend, too. And though he says he’ll never fall in love, I sometimes see his gaze linger with more than just friendship.
There's a spark between us that wasn't there before. And I don’t want to have any regrets in this relationship. But what’s a girl to do when the only way to follow her heart…is to give it away?
The Author
Gracie lives in a tiny town in Idaho, where she subsists on a diet of chocolate, romance novels, and kisses from her cute family. She may or may not have a cheesecake addiction, as well as an addiction to scribbling story ideas on whatever flat surfaces happen to be nearby. Romantic comedy in all forms is her passion.Book Review
I have to agree with India on this one--- brother's best friend IS one of the very best tropes. And when it's written by Grace Ruth Mitchell- who NEVER fails to deliver stories that will have me laughing out loud? Well, even better! From the moment I saw the title of this book (and its gorgeous sunshine-y cover), I was already hooked--- thankfully, the story inside was just as fantastic. India and Felix were such fun characters and drew me in right away. I loved their teasing banter, their chemistry... and what's a good romance without a little blackmail, right? India has already fallen for Felix once before and has no plans to do it again... but when he blackmails her into helping him with a newspaper article he's writing, all that time together (visiting romantic locations no less) has those old feelings popping up... and they might not be completely one sided this time. This was a truly delicious slow burn, but not painfully so. When that first kiss does finally happen? Completely worth the wait. I loved these two so much--- and the whole Marigold family too. (You know the sibling bond is strong when they'll help you take care of the body, right!?) There was a wonderful moment between two side characters that had me thinking that it was a perfect meet cute if I ever saw one... and I was thrilled to discover I was right when I saw their story was up next! You'll have to read to find out who, but I absolutely cannot wait to spend more time with this family and to see what will happen! All's Fair in Love and Blackmail is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
