I Knew He Was Trouble by Amanda Schimmoeller: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

I’ve never needed help from anyone. I certainly don’t need it from the infuriating doctor next door.

I loathe my uncivil neighbor and the loud music he blares before the sun has risen. Even the dogs I walk—for one of my four jobs—despise him.

I’d be happy never seeing him again. But when he becomes his niece’s guardian for a few months and is in desperate need of a nanny, I begrudgingly accept the position.

How can I refuse when the salary he offers will allow me to open my dog rescue? It’s a win-win. Or a lose-win, depending on how you look at it. I mean, I still have to be around Tyler, and I would never consider that winning.

But the more time I spend with him, my cold indifference is melting away. And the way he’s starting to look at me feels more molten than icy.

I knew that Tyler was trouble from the moment I met him, but now I think I might be the one in trouble…of losing my heart.

I Knew He Was Trouble is an enemies to lovers, next-door-neighbor romcom with sizzling chemistry but no explicit content. It’s the first book in the Sweeter Than Fiction series, following four best friends finding love.

The Author

As a child, Amanda Schimmoeller had two loves: writing and Disney. She now combines the two by writing stories of true love, broken hearts, and happily ever afters while surviving on copious amounts of iced chais and binge-worthy tv. You’ll find her plotting her next great love story and living out her own fairytale in Knoxville, TN with her husband and their dog.

Book Review

I've loved all of Amanda Schimmoeller's royal romances, so I was very excited to read her first true romcom... and she absolutely nailed it! I absolutely adored Tyler and Kelsey--- the banter, the chemistry, the prank war... I loved all of it! These two neighbors definitely didn't start off on the right foot, but when Tyler finds himself as temporary guardian of his niece and hires Kelsey as a nanny, they start to see that those initial impressions might have been a little off. Tyler's flirting had me smiling every single time! And when he takes care of her when she's sick? Yeah, that's always a weakness of mine. Throw in a meddling relative, some animal shenanigans and a sense of found family, and I really couldn't help but love this story!

If the title didn't give it away, this is definitely a book (and series) that is perfect for all the Swifties out there... but if that's not you, don't count it out just yet! While I enjoy some of her music, I don't consider myself a Swiftie and I found that while the references were definitely sprinkled throughout the story, it also didn't feel like it was overwhelming. It was the perfect amount for fans to connect with... but also not so much that non-fans can't enjoy it too. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series!

I Knew He Was Trouble is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
