The Book
As an international spy, I’ve accepted my solitary life and embraced I operate best on my own. When I arrive in Silver Ridge on a mandatory sabbatical, I’m unprepared for the way my sister’s small town and the people in it force their way into my space and, disturbingly, my heart.
Especially the man I’m partnered with at a temporary job. He’s the human embodiment of Golden Retriever energy to my black cat tendencies. A literal war hero and the sunniest person I’ve ever met, he’s my complete opposite, and yet somehow, I can’t seem to resist his pull. And he can’t seem to stop showing me a version of life I long ago accepted I’d never have. A life that looks increasingly alluring.
I’m drawn in by his genuine goodness, not to mention his ridiculous good looks. Every minute we spend together makes me want what I’ve given up even though it’s incompatible with the career I’ve sacrificed for.
When we face down danger together, I start seeing what I want more clearly. But I’ve got work to do, and I can’t just walk away from reality for the dream of this man or this town… even if it’s the most tempted I’ve ever been.
Known By You is a small town veteran romance featuring fade to black intimacy with tension and heat and no on-page spice.
The Author
Claire Cain lives to eat and drink her way around the globe with her traveling soldier and three kids, but is perhaps even happier hunkered down at home in a pair of sweatpants and slippers using any free moment she has to read and cook. Or talk—she really likes to talk. She has become an expert at packing too many dishes in too few cabinets and making houses into homes from Utah to Germany and many places in between. She’s a proud Army wife and is frankly just really happy to be here.Book Review
Known By You is the fifth book in the Veterans of Silver Ridge series. I had not actually read any of the previous books in the series, and while I'm definitely looking forward to going back and finding out more about these other characters later, I did find that I was able to enjoy this one just fine as a standalone. This book was absolutely fantastic. Right away, I found myself drawn into Liz and Kenny's story. While I'm certainly no stranger to the term 'golden retriever energy', I don't know that I had ever read a character that truly fit it as much as Kenny did! The more that we got to know his backstory and realized that he was not the way he was because of lack of hardships, but truly in spite of them, the more I absolutely adored his character. He was just such a positive light, and a great balance to Liz. Their romance was so tender and sweet... but also super emotional at times too. Throw in an adorable kitten (and all these protective men completely gone for it), a good dose of suspense and a fantastic sense of found family and there truly is so much to love in this story! I truly cannot wait to go back and read the other books in the series I'd missed! This was definitely another top read for me!
Known By You is a closed-door romance. It does have some steamier kisses (his shirt coming off) and talk of sex but fades to black before anything happens on the pages. There is also some minor language throughout the story as well.
