The Book
Isaac Warner is the tyrant of the finance department, notorious for his uncompromising perfectionism and blatant disregard for what anyone thinks about him. He’s brilliant, unfairly blessed with top-tier looks, and is also my boss. Or at least he was, until I quit today.
It’s not that I can’t handle Isaac’s icy attitude or his reputation as the office overlord. Nor do I mind serving as the go-between for him and the rest of the department as everyone else is either terrified or awestruck by him. No, it’s the endless hours of overtime that got to me.
I have no life outside the office—I haven’t had time to do anything but work since I became Isaac’s assistant.
So…I quit.
To my shock, Isaac’s stone-cold façade cracks, and suddenly I’m on the receiving end of his full, undivided attention.
All of it.
I thought I was immune to his devastating good looks, but I never stood a chance against how charming he can be when he’s motivated. And after all our time together, he already knows every detail about me—right down to my shoe size.
My coworkers swear he’s doing all this to date me, but that’s impossible. Isaac isn’t the romantic type—he sees it as a waste of time.
The real question is: can I keep my resolve to walk away when my untouchable boss suddenly wants me more than anything?
A Guide to Bantering With Your Boss is a laugh-out-loud, small-town romantic comedy full of swoon-worthy moments, sizzling kisses, and an office romance between an icy executive and his assistant . It’s a closed door romance with mild swearing/language.
The Author
Hi, I’m Nikki Bright! In my experience life can be tough, so I write laugh out loud romantic comedies in the hope that they will bring some joy to your day.
My books are closed door (which is also called sweet romance by some readers) but with plenty of the romantic zing you love, and lots of chemistry between the main characters. (That means there’s no spice or steamy times.)
In my stories you’ll find lots of banter, happily ever afters, and loads of quirky side characters who all live in the small, fictitious Wisconsin town of Fox Creek—a city so cute and quaint you’ll wish you could move there!
I’m an indie author, which means I handle everything involving bringing my books to life on my own. Thankfully, I have an amazing assistant who helps me out and runs my social media accounts, answers email, and keeps the website up to date!
Currently I’m hiding in my writing cave hard at work on the next book and focusing on writing more stories about couples you’ll love and laugh with. But I still love connecting with readers through my author newsletter, so if you’d like to hear directly from me (or if you’d like to read extra epilogues for any of my books) please sign up to receive my newsletter!
Book Review
A Guide to Bantering with Your Boss is the second book in The Warners series. While you'll appreciate seeing some familiar characters if you've read the previous book, I do think you could enjoy this one just fine as a standalone as well.I absolutely adored Isaac and Charlotte's story! Isaac is a rather unique character... I wouldn't really say he's a grump... more reserved and serious, to the point of coming across harsh... for everyone but Charlotte, at least. And a definite workaholic for sure! I definitely found myself intrigued by his character most of all. The two have been working together for years and have developed a close relationship as both coworkers and friends, nothing more. But when she decides she is leaving her job to find a better work/life balance, he realizes there might be more behind his feelings. And that intensity and dedication that he puts into his work? He does the same with romance and I was absolutely here for it! There was a really interesting dynamic between the two of them that I couldn't get enough of. When you throw in his family dynamics as well, there was a lot to enjoy in this story! If you love a workplace romance and a MMC that shows his softer side just for her, this is definitely one you're going to want to check out.
A Guide to Bantering with Your Boss is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have some minor language.
