**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Are you or someone you know struggling with pornography addiction?

Sadly, this is a fairly common issue that many families face... even within Christian households. If yours is among them, today I'm sharing a resource that you might find helpful: Mind Over Explicit Matter by Dr. Trish Leigh. Take a look:

In Mind Over Explicit Matter, Dr. Trish Leigh offers a step-by-step program to end porn addiction and heal the brain. Dr. Leigh integrates the latest neuroscientific research with easy-to-use techniques and strategies to help conquer habits and change lives.

Mind Over Explicit Matter is a groundbreaking and comprehensive guide, meticulously designed to leverage the secrets of brain science to empower individuals in their journey to break free from the clutches of addiction to sexualized media. Leveraging the latest neuroscientific research and practical strategies, this holistic step-by-step program offers a transformative experience that goes beyond surface-level understanding. Through this book, you will gain a deep understanding of the addictive nature of pornography, unravelling the intricate workings of the human brain and how it is affected by prolonged exposure.

As a cognitive neuroscientist and certified sex addiction recovery coach, Dr. Trish Leigh has dedicated her life to helping people heal their brains and overcome unhealthy addictions. With empathy and compassion, Dr. Leigh acknowledges the societal judgment and shame that often accompanies these struggles while journeying through the insights she has pioneered with thousands of clients. This roadmap for long-term recovery, filled with personal experiential stories and concrete “brain hack” activities, will

  • guide you through the process of rewiring your brain and cultivating healthy habits that support lasting change;
  • equip you with knowledge and practical tools to identify and avoid triggers;
  • enhance your ability to achieve sexual satisfaction; and
  • improve your sense of self-awareness, personal happiness, and relational contentment.

Whether you are personally grappling with pornography addiction or seeking to support a loved one on their journey, this book is an indispensable companion for a healthier and more meaningful life.

First and foremost, I must say that this is not a topic I knew a whole lot about before this book... it's not something I'd dealt with or really heard talked about too openly so there was a lot of information in this book that was surprising to me--- how prevalent the problem, yes, but also the bigger impact that it can have on a person's brain. As someone who finds it fascinating to learn more about how the brain works, I appreciated how the author broke it down so well. We follow Sam's story throughout the book and see stories from others as well, but it's all blended with the author's experience and research as a brain health, neurofeedback, and sex addiction recovery coach. She guides readers through various brain hacks that can help work through that addiction... all backed by that experience. While this is published by an imprint of Thomas Nelson (a Christian publisher), this book is not just for Christians and really focusses on the science behind addiction and its damaging effects, which I think is going to allow it to reach and help more people across all faiths.
