With the perfect blend of laugh out loud humor and swoon worthy romance--- this was just the escape to Scotland that I didn't know I needed! Graeme and Katie won me over very quickly in this beautiful romcom. Katie truly is the perfect romcom heroine-- she's on the clumsy side and trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes, but she also has the biggest heart. Graeme comes off as a grump at first, but ultimately, he's the perfect kilt-wearing Scottish hero to come to her rescue... in more ways than one. Both of these characters had experienced loss in their lives that still affect them. It was interesting to see the contrast in how their families dealt with that loss... and how it shaped their own lives. Those deeper moments balanced perfectly with those over-the-top mishaps to send my emotions all over the place--- in the best way possible. There was a fantastic sense of found family--- with some meddling and matchmaking mixed in there too. And Lachlan? He was just the absolute cutest and added so much to the story. And with all the Scottish lore, well, this one will certainly have you wanting to plan your own trip too! I have never read a Pepper Basham book that I did not enjoy, but this one might just be my favorite one yet!
